I want to get out fishing this weekend. Is there any open water anywhere worth trying? What are you fishing for at this time of year?

Hopefully we are all fishing for stuff thats actually in open season.
That's the plan. Can anyone PM me a decent spot to try from shore for anything that's open (trout, pike, walleye in some spots?)

Thanks in advance

Google map the niagara. For lake Ontario pick a area close to you and google map it you will find spots to park...etc...etc..

Check the regs for open seasons on an area you'd like to fish, for pike, in lake ontario, i can in the regs its closed for the month of april, why? closed for month must mean they are spawning, pike spawn where? pike like shallow area with long some long grass , so, marshes, harbours, river mouths. so pick a spot thats close to you, toss some jerk baits and see what happens.

Pike are open year-round in Zone 17. I'll be spending some time there as soon as there's open water.

yep, meaning in land lakes, but closed for april in zone 20 which is lake o. which includes harbours and marshes. accidental catches do occur, but if you're tossing 8" jerk bait with 30lb braid with a steel leader, and tell the CO you're fishing steelhead, hes bound to call you a liar lol

Yeah. I live a couple of minutes from Frenchman's Bay, so after March 31 I'm out of luck on doing much after work. Now, if the boss gives me a run to Sudbury, I'll be bassin'!

North of Highway 17, and west of where the Serpent river meets Lake Huron, they're open all year.
