Went there today and there were tons of fish jumping, i couldn't tell what they were.. only that they were silver and about 5-12 inches long, and they were jumping the surface for insects, I was throwing a husky jerk for pike, followed by a mepps 5, and then tried some jigging for a bit and nothing..

anyone know if there's pike in there? or what the fish I was seeing are? maybe silver bass?

there is pike there. try silver-bladed spinners or spoons. I find spring pike love some metals. plugs doesn't produce well on post spawn pikes (my experience). cleos and vibrax are what i use on openers. too windy to fish right now and water is high. i would still go if i can but it's mother's day.

i threw a red and white mepps 5 for a while, i'll try something with metallic blades next time, its one of those spots i can fish for a few hours every day after work

thanks for the tip

The only thing I hate about spinners us they snag easily. I use single barbless. And I don't use leaders. 6 to 8 lb test. Casts farther. Good luck. Although I can't call Oshawa harbour a honey hole, I have caught my share of pike there.

was gonna go this morning too (not to oshawa harbour) but didn't because of the wind, thanks again
