Years ago my dad had a nice piece of land north of the GTA. At the back of the land we made 2 ponds about 100 x 100 feet. It was spring feed and there was a crrek that ran 40 feet from it where we used to top the pond up when it was dry. We released about 400-500 rainbow trout in each pond. Back than my father farmed the land and when he was there everyday he feed it twice a day. The year after we sold the farm cause the soil wasn't good for what we need it for. Been about 6 years now, does anyone know if the trout will survive on their own? The deep part of the pond was 22 feet so they can survive the winter. Just want to know if they can live off flies and what not that falls into the pond.

some of them probably, but definatley not all 400 of them could live of flies on 1000 feet of surface water

probably a few in there...especially if it's 22 ft deep...

and it's 10,000 square feet of surface area, not 1000 feet haha

oh yeah, while thats a fail on my part , is there some sort of aeration system in there?

no there is no aeration system. We trapped chubs and cray fish from the crrek and released them in that year aswell. I don't know if that helps the pond or not.
