Fished a local trib last fall. Packed with people as usual. The bite for me as with everybody else slow all except for one guy. Must have landed a dozen or so in an hour. Normally people are very tight lipped about their steelhead tactics. This guy was very open in telling me everything he was doing to land his fish. I found it refreshing to meet someone that willing to share his info. Apparently talking to other anglers this guy is somewhat of a fishing icon on the tribs. Greek guy shaved head gotee. Anyway if you see him on the tribs this fall hell be the guy catching when everybody is fishing

Yeah my catch records almost non existent. He was drifting this weird looking soft plastic bait and just killing them. Just nice to meet people like that. The tribs are usually a war zone

Old guy at a trib close by (east) about 60+ years old. Could barely walk and I cringe everytime he steps a bit closer to the bank although he was careful. He has the setup for float fishing except for one major component...spinning reel. On the otherside 3 young guys speaking a language i usually hear around my block but don't understand with all the right setups but wasn't doing pretty well. Old guy was catching steelies at the rate of 2 every 15 minutes...pretty good. I forgot i'm suppose to fish but just keep watching instead. After probably 12 fish (c&r) he called it a day. Since I was standing above him. I gave him a hand to climb up. In return He gave me a few roes...adjusted my setup gave me a few tips...I'm still practicing his..."old codes".
