Hey Guys, I've been checking out the forums for a couple of days now, and thought I'd show off some of my better catches from the river in Ayr. Great bass, pan fish and carp fishing, as well as Channel cats and Pike lurking in certain areas. I highly recommend trying out this river when the spring comes.

Thanks buddy, the fish in the Nith seem to be huge from the massive amounts of baitfish around. And yea that rock bass was an ounce shy of a pound, I thought it was a smallie until it surfaced

Believe it or not but the one that's closer to the camera ( was by myself so picture was crappy) weighed in at 6.7 pounds, the other I had no scale for but the stomach was really thick, so i'd guess the same or more. But this is my problem with pics so far lol, it's hard to get something in the picture for scale when you're chest wading especially. These two pics, the first is 3.3 and the second is 4.0, hard to tell without something to base it off.

whoa bro, looks like the same fish too, spawning color and clear water coloration,,, LOL, just kidding, but they look alike, thats a beast of a smallie too, have you ever caught one on a centerpin or on the fly?

Lol yea it's sometimes hard to tell pike and bass apart. And no sadly I haven't given either a try, that's probably a blast. I currently use a bait caster and have a back-up spinning rod, but I want to try fly fishing this year.

sure enough bait caster is the way to go with this bad boys, specially with topwater then its a bonus if your baitcaster has a twitcher,,, even better!!!!!

Ya know I actually haven't given top water a fair chance, I have a few ill pitch out from time to time, but I haven't found any lures i feel fully confident in yet. and what do you mean by a twitcher?

I've fished that river and a bunch of others in the area, and you can't beat a tube for smallies in those rivers, they go nuts for them

this small tab you push on the baitcaster, retreives a little bit of line at a time while giving the bait a popping action!!! works awesome with hula poppers and lipped topwater baits, even torpedos,,,

Hmm I'll have to try that out this spring. and yea Tubes definitely work well there, same with big-o's and spinnerbaits.
