well it seems this year is starting with a downer!!!
the owners of the restaurant have had enough this winter, they have posted no fishing no trespassing sings all over. i geuss they had alot of problems last year with the amount of trash left behind and not to mention one death, 2 hunts left to fall through in spring and the burning of a few others.. and also due to the amount of Pooh people left behind....(real Sh!t and pee)

This kinda piss's me off alot, i never had the chance to ice fish it.... and now i dont think i will get the chance, unless i know someone with privete acsese..

this is the pitt's! .
but atleast we can fish the little lake out front near the road, it has 5 inch's of ice as of yesterday! gonna see how it goes today!!!

cheers!

p.s. Remember to be like Blair, and clean up a bit of trash if you see it... if everyone could be like him im sure the lake would of been open this year...

darn that really sucks! The lake offered great ice fishing.....i'm glad I read this before I made the first trip out there this year. What should really be banned on puslinch is snowmobiles and dirtbikes. People were completely wreckless on them last year, I remember being scared while ice fishing there last year before the deaths because they would be going at top speed within 10 feet of where you were ice fishing and they could easily lose control. There were also people on snowmobiles racing infront of the restaurant on a regular basis as well. Its sad but necessary, too many people were out of control on that lake.

Bummer--wish everyone could just be a little more considerate and be good custodians of the resource.

Remember to bring a shopping bag with you on your outing--doesn't hurt to pick up trash on your way back to the car :D

One of my shore fishing spots is like that. I have been going there for years. It is my spot for taking the kids on the river, very little current = SAFE. I got there this year and there was a no trespassing sign. The property is owned by a small aiport/ float plane base. I know where nthe owner lives because I have been going there for years. I respected the signs, I stayed out. BUT I went to the owner and asked him persoanlly for permission. He recognized me and permission was granted. I had a friend with me and my 2 sons. We kept our garbage contained, then at the end of the outing I gave both boys a shopping bag and we went to work. We ended up filling 3 shopping bags full of garbage. The shore looked better than when we got there. That is always my goal, it is what my father taught me and it is what I am passing on. I have no doubt that no matter how bad it gets as long as I continue to do my part I will be granted permission, they see the values that I am trying to teach my children. They apprectiate it!

The red river is a busy fishery. A couple years ago a friend of mine started a tournament. It was clean up and fishing related. Entrance fees were waived that took part in a morning shoreline clean-up. It has grown considerabley and has several corperate sponsers. Might be a good idea for your area. I should take pictures of how dirty the shoreline gets here. Its enough to make you sick sometimes!!!!

As for ice fishing, it has gotten to the point where the river is patrolled not only by Conservation but the RCMP during the winter. They are also0 trying to ban permanant shacks. The theory is that people with portables are moe avid anglers and therefor cleaner. I am not sure that is the case.

I stopped in for lunch today and found out that they were almost caught up in the lawsuit last year because they accessed on their property so it makes sense for them to close off public access with the crowd that you can find out there. Too bad because it was the only public access spot on the lake. If they banned all motorized vehicles on the lake It would make a huge difference and who knows maybe they would allow public access again.

Thats how it begins a few bone heads add alcohol just improves their personality - pollute, accidents - closed to the public. Simcoe has been doing stuff to stop access, high priced parking or fines for road side parking etc.. to the public that brings revenue to them during off season. Like parking on the ice side by side and 1 idiot trys his new auger out and 20-30 cars go under. Common sense yoou can't teach it and not all of us have it. LOL Just hope it doesn't cause some ones death - lawsuits are becoming the norm like down south.... people tend to be very defensive or protective after a taste of these types of behaviour. Fishing liscences don't require an IQ test or common sense to obtain just cash - we all need to take care of our environment, respect our resources and each other. England has very restrictive fishing zones times etc... if we continue the course we are going most lakes may become off limits to the general public - let's keep them open. Use your head and pick up any garbage you see and report idiots before they become a statistic.
