i will drive up to 1 and a half hours for nice bass fishing. I havent caught a single bass this season and i want to go fishing all week as i will have the time i want to know which lakes are productive and some general baits to use

Buddy ...... I'm not being Rude, but you like have 10 posts that all revolve around ONE QUESTION:

"Could you tell me EXACTLY where and how I COULD CATCH some BASS?"

(Slight sarcasm, I do apologise....)

Ummmmm IN THE WATER!

- River

- Lake Ontario

- Lake Erie

- Rice Lake

- Toronto Islands

- Harbourfront

If you read the posts (Which you obviously have) ... there are TONS of pointers and suggestions.

FISH MOVE AROUND, and a multiple amount of CONDITIONS will affect the WHERE ABOUTS of the fish on any given day.

Again, not intended to be RUDE ... but what are you asking for? SOMEONE to CATCH THEM for YOU?

I noticed your "Friend" is Joshua (FishFight) - He is an EXCELLENT FISHERMAN and real nice Guy.

Just ask him about FISHING.

There are no friggin guarantees! and if there was, what kind of Skill, Experience ... or FUN would that be?

as an example:

Come end of August, 100's of guys will be standing out on the PIERS fishing for Salmon.

Take 100 guys chucking spoons for several hours, and there might be on any given night 2-3 Salmon landed.

That's 1/ 10,000 casts! (Some Magic nights, that number can be significantly more!) Who knows.

I'm not discouraging your efforts and passion to CATCH some BASS, but asking the same question OVER and OVER.... isnt going to get you any RESULTS.

NOR is it going to Ingratiate you with other members of this Forum!

You have to get out and Explore and fish places, just LIKE EVERYONE ELSE!

* If you read DIGGY's POSTs of the past few weeks (He's just SLAYIN THEM at RICE LAKE! - course he knows it well, has a boat) yet, there are other guys getting SKUNKED up there.

I wish you the BEST and there is no harm in ASKING.

However, BEGGING GUYS for some secret guaranteed spot is SIMPLY ANNOYING!

blair you are the best!

LOL ... i see you share the SAME OPINION!

Look ... try this:

1. Get out there at different times

2. Privately PM some guys and see if you can hook up with them

3. Read and watch more tips & Advice

4. Toronto Has MULTI - SPECIES, so instead of just BASS - while your trying for others... your odds of hitting or seeing some Bass are increased

I PERSONALLY, have seen the BASS going DEEP in the last few weeks (The temps) HINT - HINT HINT!

* I consider myself a GOOD FISHERMEN, and if you read my post "Baby BowFin" ... I went out on Saturday ALL DAY (Islands) and DID NOT CATCH a SINGLE BASS!

poop happens, get used to it! It's called FISHING not CATCHING

Atta boy Blair, the forums have all the answers anyone needs to learn about fishing... and most of them are from Blairs posts

Well said Blair.

Amar we don't want to discourage you from the sport of fishing. 1/2 of it is finding out your own little "hot spot' and keeping it secret. If it's guarenteed fish you want then go to a pay pond, you'll have a 90-95% chance of going home with trout. Try finding those out of the way spots that may hold bass. No I don't have any myself and I would not just give it away either, nor am I going to ask for anyone's spot because I'm still searching for my very own. Good luck in your search.

..... Amar could always go to some of the well known Canadian fishing gurus' websites to find spots with nauseating specific information. These guys are giving away the farm that took most of us years to figure out with legwork and brainwork. I find these sites disgusting, that is my opinion.

That used to be the primary focus of this site; to map out and make accessible as much of Ontario's fishing opportunities as possible. Just sayin'..

It's on hold though, as the site creator is too busy atm to put the mapping system back in place.

The maps were for urban ponds only. For other "hot spots" you could access the reports section that was restricted to only who had submitted a unique report themselves. However, they say if you want it secret, never post it on web othewise it finds it way out

Hey Salmo,

The SITE basically still does this. Most of the Guys are perfectly willing to share what's happening in different locations. I do it ALL the TIME.
Pretty well read any Report that I have ever posted and it openly says:

- Harbourfront

- Islands

- East Trib

etc.

"Diggy" tells everyone RICE LAKE is on Fire.

"Shark Lake" was a great weekend

"Just got back from Sturgeon

"HammerCarp" invites All who are interested to come down to the Hamilton Pier

The information is SO BLATANT, is pretty well impossible not to see it.

Come Salmon and Trout season, how can you "Hide" the fact that EVERY TRIB will have fish? No secret there.

When "we" say Pier Fishing (Chucking Spoons) ... cant misinterpret that!

When "we" see posts from NEWER FISHERMEN, who ask in a civil and polite way ... it's amazing how many guys jump in to help out. I've seen you do this many a time ... plus many others.

The "Problem" is when someone asking, has obviously labled themselves as a LAZY ASS, not a "new fishermen". One of those people who really should be fishing in a TROUT POND ... cause their attitude to fishing is exactly that.

To each their own....

Most of us, know the WELL KNOWN locations are no secret. We are not talking that little hole that holds some specs ... off the beaten track.

My PERSONAL thoughts on secrecy ... truly only manifest becasue of these factors:

The Loogans an Ingrates will show up and do the following:

1. Litter

2. Make Noise and Slosh through the water

3. Keep Stringers of Fish (EVERY FRIGGIN TIME)

4. Treat other species like their crap

5. Be rude to land owners, pedestrians ...

RUIN IT FOR US and OTHERS!

In no way do I ever "Think the water is Mine" (Unfortunately, some of the ARROGANT trout fishermen do) ... it's here for everyones enjoyment.

Thankfully, the SIMPLE PURE TRUTH and FACTS are that:

Most "Morons" will show up, fish the location ... NOT CATCH ANYTHING and never come back.

THANK GOD!

True fishermen, will learn the water, listen to other's great advice. Aquire PATIENCE and understanding of the multiple conditions, and gain the experience anybody needs to learn anything!

It's just the LAZY ONES... who believe their is some kind of "easy way out".

Fortunately, People can change.

just my thoughts

Yes, love this site and the sharing of information. However, it is information shared by hardworking everyday anglers with eachother and we can hold back on what detail we do not want to share or we can do it in private via email or pm's. It is done here in such a way where self promotion or profit do not play a role, unlike "professional anglers" who describe exactly what abutment or tree to cast at on a specific waterway. And this is done for one reason only: "money", be it increased site traffic, product selling, etc. I find it a great disservice and a slap in the face to anglers who have worked years to hone their craft on their local hotspots.

just my thoughts

Agreed, Blair. Having said that, my good friend, you do "adobe" your photos when you share them ie: recognizable landmarks in the background. And you do this for a very good reason as you described. Morons showing up. I would do the same. This technique of making photos difficult to judge where they were taken is NOT done on the "professional anglers" websites. I suggest the motivation for sharing information on spots and techniques at that level is for self promotion, site visit numbers and in the end, profit, be it monetary or whatever the form. The "sharing" of specific information at that level, in my humble opinion, is done for the wrong reasons. It is NOT done "cause I am a good guy and wanna share" as we do here when we so choose, be it publicly or in private.

Not to take away from the sentimental moment, But..... DAM! You are wise!

lol i think it is more cynicism than anything after fishing as long as I have and the BS one witnesses that amount of time associated with the art. We are all here for the same reason and it is a positive one. We have no hidden agendas or motivations. We come here and leave here feeling good, often "educated" and happy we could also share a question, an answer, be it publicly on the thread or in private. And look at Blair's posts. Creative, educational often twinged with editorial comment. Love em! Now if I start seeing in Blair's posts information on where EXACTLY to cast for bowfin and oh, by the way, they will only hit BLAIR'S PATENTED BOWFIN BAIT (available at fine tackle dealers) well then I will have to write him off as "gone corporate" lol and process his information accordingly. lol!!! Have a great fishing week, everyone! I have a sheepshead post I need to get up soon. Yes, hold your breath! lol

I'm with blair on this one. Finding your own honeyhole is one part of fishing i enjoy and get more satisfaction. A little help is fine but always keep in mind that there is a great chance that someone will be there as well and beat you to that spot. I was in centerville last Saturday, was that you Blair with another gentleman in the spot close to the bridge? Didn't bring my rod as I was with my kids and just scout the area. saw some big carps swimming close to the boat and swan rides. I'm new to fishing and learn a lot from this forum. Read the reports and take it from there.
