I just bought my first boat this summer, a Tracker topper 1432 Jon boat with the intentons of converting it into a mini bass boat, I have found lots of info about it on line but I have yet to see one in the water in the GTA! I was curious to see if anyone on here has one, or knows someone who has because I would love to get some local ideas on where to get materials or even tips I havent seen already.

looks like a good winter project, 2nd video looks nice. good luck and take pictures of your progress.

I will for sure upload pictures when I get started, probably wont be till mid january holiday time is busy for everyone

I've got the tools, minus the riveting tools. And im pretty handy just might have to attempt it sooner or later. Going to add in a live well and built in minnow bucket. Just need to find a boat!

I got my boat brand new from bps, 2012 tracker topper 1436 "scratch and dent" for $600 tax in, instead of 755+hst. Great boat for fishing small rivers and lakes but in no way set up for choppy water. The boat flexes and doesnt like wakes from other boats much so keep that in mind. I love my boat but I want to find a bigger v hull to take on simcoe or scugog as I wouldent risk taking mine in there on a busy day

i have converted many mod V and semi V hull 14 footers, try to keep the weight down next one i do will be similar to this using aluminum channel for structural framing . if going with wood... i reccommend using cedar lumber for framing more expensive than PT but lighter also the new ACQ treatment in the wood does not react well with aluminum. for decking go with either marine grade ply of fir last time i used 5/16 but ran my framing 12'' on centre. you may want to opt for half inch ply with 16 inch centres. use only galvanized or stainless stell fasteners. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GofWQCr_RGE some pics of my last project not the best but done with reclaimed materials stood up for 4 yrs now but decking is starting to let go.... do to neglect
