How far are you willing to travel?

Lol I was like damn where's my post...Looks like we have a little game of two topics one subject on our hands

Lotsa tourneys near newcastle dude, I know a pro bassr there. To reiterate my other post you should check your local BASS assoc for some bassmaster tourneys.

I could be mistaken but i believe it is quiet pricey to sign up to fish Bassmasters..but that's just what I herd..Grand river holds a bass derby usualy a week or two after opener. Its a live release obv and prizes are givin to the longest fish..

Yah you're right man it's usually like 400-500 for the chapter dues and tourney fees etc...benefit is you don't have to have a boat I think they pair you up with someone who does (might be chapter dependent tho).

Still, 100 a tourney plus gas isn't too bad if you plan to fish em all and that includes big fish pots too so your odds of making some money back are half decent.

The other tourney you suggested sounds great too. Or better yet, inthecover you could join our C&R tourney haha

Not as expensive as I assumed at first. But not cheap either, The derby on the grand is only 20$-30$

Have you ever fished a Bassmaster BWB? I think it would be a good experience

Hard to beat a 30$ fee for sure.

No I've never fished any formal tourney actually...competition was for other sports and fishing was for fun and maybe some bragging rights but now that I'm all washed up at everything else I think I've gotta get my competitive fix on the water haha.

How about you? fish many tourneys?

Just the Grand derby every year and the Owen Sound spectacular once..caught downrigger canon ball and a cold..some idiot cut my uncles boat off..funny seeing him jump up when his rod bounced and set the hook..

Haha yah dude I'd probably skunk it up no matter what. I would have demanded that they weigh that downrigger lol.

I was looking at the Bassmaster results and they don't look too insane...I bet I would just buckle under the pressure though...

Me too or maybe some beginners luck? I've gotten bass while fishing the grand derby but nothing worth entering..some pretty nice fish win it every year usualy 18+ inches..

18+ on a river is definitely pretty boss...

damn man this is making me want to sign up for some tourneys lol...can we just fast forward to june please?

I cant wait to bass fish. it would be nice to do tourney but i dont think i would spend 500 or 600 just yet. I also have my own boat so i dont know if that price is for non boater or for boaters as well?

Yah I think it is. It's an etiqutte thing like if you're boating someone around all day they're supposed to pay for gas. Best bet is to check with your local chapter though. If the fee is too pricey for you at this point I'm sure you'll have no problem finding tourneys like those CA87 discussed around you. Lotsa bass fanatics up your way that's for sure...

Checked out the page and that looks like a really well run event with great fees and prizes. Its about 2.5 hours from my place but for the cost to enter i dont think i can say no......... Never fished that water but somtimes that can work to my advantage. In the rules i was reading that they are two dams that you need to fish within but on the map i didnt really see the dams themself. I did see paris golf course im assuming thats where the south dam is but....
This might be a really stupid question but is this a boaters tourny or and from shore tourny?

The other dam would be the dam at the bottom of Belwood Lake conservation area. Shand dam is the name of the dam, pardon my spelling..

It all dpends on the boat you have and the section of river your fishing..as some parts are deep and slow, but a majority of the water that falls within the boundries is fast and shallow with deep pools. Most of the fishing is done from shore or canoe witch are available to rent from multiple canoe rentals. Its a very big stretch of water, the tuffest part is transporting your fish from A to B. As it is a live release the fish must be brought in a container with airetor and in good health.

I Know I'll be fishing it again this year and would be happy to point you in the right direction when the time comes. I acctualy fished the pool the winning fish was took from last year and past the winner walking the banks..I also think I found his setup lying in the grass on the way back..must have been so excited he forgot it lol.

Look at www.csfl.ca

I fish the bm100 division

its $300 per tournament. No fees or boat non boater nonsense. Typically its a 2 person team so you can find a partner and do them together

Look at the CBAF its the biggest federation in ontario. I believe it's around a 100$ for a one year membership and there is plenty of tourny's
X2 CBAF is about $100.00 for membership & FLW Magazine & $60.00 for entry & around $40.00 for Gas to the Boater = $100,00? per Tourney, a great way to meet different people, try different lakes & have fun, I belong to Waterloo Wellington CBAF, check out the Forum & try a meeting before you join. http://forum.cbaf.ca/index.php
Tight Lines SBK

Others may have mentioned this but a great place to start tourney fishing is your local Bassmasters chapter. I heard someone say 400-500 to join but ya much cheaper then that. I'm with Niagara now and ours is $60 for dues and then for any club tournaments and most bigger tournaments you have to be a B.a.s.s. member which is about $30 plus you get the monthly magazines. So very worth it. Club tournaments are usually $30-$40 and if you are a non-boater you split gas with the boater. Not sure what your local club will charge for all of the above but I have a feeling it's not much off that. The meetings are mostly open to go to. I highly suggest checking out your local chapter and chatting with those guys. I am very happy I finally did that a couple years ago. You won't regret it. There's always options to fish bigger tournaments while being a member of those clubs.
