Hi everyone, I'm basshat, but my mom calls me Andrew. I'm originally from the Peterborough area, live in Toronto. Spend most of my free weekends taking the kayak out on every little lake off the paved road I know, reeling in some game that rarely sees a hook, but I also fish some better known spots too. What really gets my reel spinning are those bucketmouth. I love me some bad bass action smashing into my hook. They think they can hide from me, but I get 'em! I chase 'em all summer and into early fall, then I chase trout and panfish until the gov'ment lets me chase them bass again!

welcome to the OFF!!! bass hunter eh?! nice where do u go kayaking??

Thanks!

I have a few favorite kayaking and fishing spots in the 705 and 613 areas where there's still some good pockets of crown land left. Some are a slice of heaven that see few people and abuse, but sadly, too many are abused and over-fished.

You own a kayak? I regret not buying an actual fishing kayak some days when I'm fumbling too many things on my lap, but I have a little 8' guy that fits in my apartment and the bed of my little Ranger. It's great for sneaking around the shores, structures and inlets. Also love how easy it is to portage into those small, unlisted lakes and just explore.

Finding little hotspots for bass is what I was doing this summer. I was checking the Peterborough area. All I need is a canoe to get into the tough spots....lol. I can't wait for next spring for bass, pike and walleye.

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks! If you haven't already, check out Pigeon Lake. The south end where it turns into the river by Emily Provincial Park is a well known spot for bass. Not exactly away from it all with all the people on the water, but it's still a good place if you're looking to pick a fight with those big lipped sonsofguns. If Walleye be your pleasure, head up to the north end of the lake if you have access to an outboard. There's Muskie in there too. That lake will keep you busy!!!

Canoes are great for fishing and enjoying nature in general. There's something about a canoe you just can't get from any other type of craft.

I was lower down the Pigeon river fishing from shore. It looked promising, lots of weed beds, bait fish and structure.
Yeah, with canoes and kayaks you're sitting so close to the water.

Next year I hope to get a small square back canoe. Thx for the tips.
