This is my first fishing report, anyways, me and my buddy fished the bayfield river today (friday). We parked at varna and fished downstream. A ways downstream we came across a nice bend hole, my buddy drifted with roe and i nymphed the head of the pool with a stonefly and a woolly bugger. No success. I then changed to a single egg and BOOM, fish on. I landed this fish (the biggest) and took a couple more casts and i was into another fish, the same thing followed, i landed this one and the next cast i caught my third rainbow. My friend landed a nice bow on roe, a smaller one. He then changed to hardware and hooked and landed two more rainbow. He also lost two on the roe, previously. The water had been too clear earlier this week and for a couple weeks, it just shows you how important rain is to fishing. Prior to this day I had only caught one other rainbow on the maitland-bayfield watershed, except for some early creek fishing this spring. Anyways, here are the pictures to accompany the tale. hope you enjoy

You're bang on with the comment on rain. We fished the Maitland on Saturday and Sunday and the fishing was excellent. Saturday I hooked over 20 fish and landed 6 bows ranging from 2 to 8 lbs. sunday the water started to clear but I still landed another 6 bows and hooked 4 or 5 more. In one hole I watched over 30 fish landed. When I was leaving I had a look at the Bayfield at Varna and was surprised to see still 10 cars at the bridge - usually means fishing is good. Yesterdays rain means the fishing should remain good for another week.
Will try an dpost some pics later today.

Everyone tells me I shoulda been here yesterday but nobody will tell me where I should be tomorrow

I believe the original writer for this topic was fishing at Varna which is accessed off Parr Line. I was fishing below Benmiller. So both of us were getting the fish well upstream. I had two buddies fishing the mouth of the Maitland and they caught 8 bows on Saturday, they were plunking but they said quite a few were caught on cleos and crocs.
