Couldn't have said it better myself NADO! Maybe if no one posted anything Chrome would have the pier the bridge to himself.

I caught my first ever salmon this morning at Bayfield. The wind was so strong that the waves were crashing over the pier, but back in the river was fine.

I just wanted to thank everyone on this forum for the information they've posted. It's an incredible resource and probably I would've never tried fishing for salmon without the help I got here.

I fish Bayfield primarily because it is close, and while many sit in their lawn chairs fishing, I much prefer to stand. I was walking the bank further upstream, but there simply are very few fish there at all. If we don't get a good amount of rain in the next while I don't expect that to change much. Had some good rain this weekend, but I have not been up to see how things have developed in the river. I was hoping to get up today, but I needed to help my wife with some stuff. Maybe tomorrow.

Speaking of lawn chair fishing I saw alot of that this weekend. Just curious what they are using for bait? I am assuming spawn bags? I was using neon spoonsmyself but no luck for me. Maybe the lure was too big I dont know. Any suggestions?

Just float fish, that is what usually gets the most hookups. I was sitting on rocks at another huron trib this weekend while fishing the same spot for hours. Not much u can do when your stuck at the mouth and your float is moving an inch a minute. I woulda killed for a lawn chair lol.

Tried my luck this weekend, cold and windy out on the pier, so I went further up the river. There were quite a few caught on sunday. I had 2 on as well, but sadly, i couldnt land them. Might head back up in a couple of weeks to try again.
Thanks for all the info from all the members of this forum :)

Why don't you just bring a 5gallon white bucket to sit on...
No-brainer!

maybe I'll bring the wife to sit on next time .... if she would just shut up for 2 seconds it would be perfect!

Edit: please do not forward this post to my wife

hoping to get up and have some birthday luck, seemed pretty low still so i may fish just past the bridge, hopefully hook into a few!

thinking of heading up to Bayfield very soon, wonder if anyone could tell me a good spot to start, and are the Rainbows running up there? Never been there before to fish, but have heard many great things about this place! I love salmon and trout fishing, taken more of a liking for it this year then any other!
