this year i have been having alot of luck on darker natural colored beads over roe probably a 5-1 on a west trib i was wondering if thats the same across the province or is there other color's or roe working better on other rivers

Yah I've seen guys smashing fish on beads this year, but i hit a lot of fish on roe as well, but lately I have been tying very small bags.

It all depends on water conditions to be honest. Dirty water, roe will usually outfish everything. I've had bright unnatural looking beads work when nothing else was working a few times this year.

I have and do well and I use beads almost exclusively but roe works too and yes the natural colours work best imo

I hardly use roe since I started fishing beads, but usually have some with me. I haven't tied roe bags for the last 3 years, and it still works.

bead + a fly in clean water for me
big roe bag that I sometimes top with a bigger bead (50/50) for dirty water
it all depends on what the fish want that day though, but this is generally I start

You want to be no more than 1.5 other wise you are technically snagging. There is a whole debate on this subject. One inch should put you in a safe zone.

How about a bead 2" inch above the eye and still put roe on the hook? Overkill?
Ive done this on a few occasions. main reason being I wanted to switch to roe but too lazy to take the hook off remove the bead and tie the hook back on

Lots of people I see like to put a bead anywhere from 5 to 15 inches above a bag as a attractor.

im a die hard roe fisher and have had years of good fishing but some of my buds use beads and do quite well with them mite have to give them a try someday lol
