Not sure about Ontario but they are common in Europe as the only predators in a lake are usually Pike, Zander (European Walleye) Catfish and Perch ofcourse. There is no Musky in Europe there is other predatory fish but some of them only dwell in Rivers. My friend who is from Poland and is an avid fisherman told me it was not uncommon to catch these size perch in some lakes and rivers in Poland.

I would guess that those are European perch and not North American.
