Whoa! Thunderstruck, I've had the opportunity to have lighting hit very close to me... and it actually happened last night... the sound it generated sent chills down the spine... electrifying, crackling sound. Wow, I cannot imagine how many people will be out there this weekend. Be friendly and stay safe.

Tip of the day: No salmon in its right mind would come close to shore when the water is almost 80 degrees Fahrenheit. Lake Ontario's surface temperature changes dramatically with the wind. This is why anglers get skunked out on the piers one day and catch several the next. Look for those Northern winds if you plan on fishing the north shore of Lake Ontario this time of year 8)

.just spent 30 hours fishing some east tribs..... thursday night was steady, friday morning we seen schools of salmon cruising the beaches like packs of sharks, in the afternoon a front moved and the waves rolled in topping over the piers at times and we witnessed a water funnel out in front of the power plant. that night was on fire there was hundreds of fish landed and the crowd not to bad. I gave spoon chucking my first honest go and hit three on a green glow cleo with orange spots (what a feeling when they strike), took many more fishing with bait. Ended up breaking my first s&s rod on a tank but thats ok as it was 10 yrs old and i was surprised i got last season out of it. needless to say there is oven ten pounds of roe and 100 lbs of bear fodder in the back of my pickup.one member of my group skunked on salmon but did catch a small steelie around 15" . good to get your seasons worth of bait on your first outing. we took lots of video and pictures but none will be posted until this initial run is over, all and all pretty awesome for aug 9-10 . you gotta know the weather patterns to look for and get out before the rains thats when the fish are in staging!

Went out this morning on my local trib searching for early runners, I was greated with a very strong and unexpected south wind.....too windy to even fish the mouth also some lightning to make it too sketchy....next 24 hours doesn't look any better. Maybe monday am before work....the anticipations killing me lol!!

love it when a plan comes together quick smash and load out on roe early before all the stupidity starts, now its just a matter of waiting for the water around home to prime up we got an approx 35 mm yesterday now we just need prolonged NW winds to push them in.....maybe around the next full moon.

OMG ... I laughed my head off GBD when I saw the cigarette butt! HILARIOUS

I'm glad you got into some awesome action early!
Sounds like the East was very very good for you.

Drop me off some Roe & Skein please...?

*Just kiddling, I shall get some of my own ... soon enough.

Well done, wets the appetites of us all!

i will check bluffs and ashbridge's early tomorrow morning. hope to get some action and see if salmon visit this year. last year was a dud. will report how it goes.

Last night/Yesterday was SICK...

Never hooked so many on J13's/spoons/skein before.... Epic day.....

Watched hundreds fly up river on multiple tribs....

Besides raising the water level and cooling off, what affect does rain have? Sorry if this is a dumb question with an obvious answer.
