Mike, I can feel your excitement! These prehistoric monster fight unlike any other fish IMO. They can pin the bottom and you can'y even move them, lol. Then they run hundreds of yards, even pulling your boat around in circles if they want too.
On Rainy River, there is thousands of them. I watch Americans getting pulled around all the time, it's pretty funny.
I've never targeted them here, because there is no season on them. But I have caught a few while jigging walleyes. My biggest came last year, around 85-100lbs, no way to weigh it. But it was 7ft long for sure and fat. I could feel the stress on my 6'6" MH rod all the way to the reel seat!
Congrats on the catches man, I bet your arms were a little sore the next day, hehe
