Please pardon my ignorance, but I'm really trying to understand the term blown out. When it is "blown" does that mean the water is muddy? If it is really high? Both? Anything else? Went to a trib on Monday for a scout that I've been fishing lately, I'm pretty sure this is the definition of blown.

Also what causes the river to be blown? Winds blowing in a certain direction depending on where the trib is? Thanks to any input and excusing my noobness lol.View attachment 11294

Everyones got their own definition I suppose. But yeah, thats blown... really blown! Now, if the water is higher than normal, but running green, is the water still ``blown``... or does blown refer to the visibility as well, so high water and unfishable conditions make the water blown... Same with mud... whats the definition of mud water... is brown water with a foot of visibility mud...

When I first started steelheading and didn`t know any better, I fished water like that before  Water was 6 - 8 ft. higher then normal and I was drifting an area where there was a walking path! Too funny

Pretty much describes it. Add a few limbs, branches, bottles and milk crates and that would be perfect.

Ya next time I will bring a life jacket :D . So blown could be the level, visibility, muddyness, any one or all of those things would be considered Blown? Speaking of blown you know what day it is today right? haha

If ur a dummy like I am you see water like that and still drift it for 8 hours straight.

you can still catch fish in a double double, find slower water, use bigger bait and be sure to stall the f98k outta your drift.
