When it comes to bluegill fishing either u love it, hate it with a vengence or love it and then realuze you need bigger game. There are questions with this angling sport that need to be anwsered.
Why would anyone purposly try to catch this annoying little fish? How do you properly fish for
them? Where do you find a lot of them?
The majority fisherman will ask why anyone would spend their precious time fishing for this sunfish. Reason number one: people like to start with something simple when they start fishing. Its like my cousin once said when I started fishing "dude, if you just started fishing you cant go out there and catch a 2 foot pike, work your way up the food chain man".
Reason 2: people may be lazy on some days. When you want to remember the feeling of catching a fish but dont feel like bringing the boat out there is always them waiting. Is good for the shoreline fisherman. It can have a refreshing feeling of why you are fishing.
Reason 3: People love the fish and are always working to beat there records. Imagine how would entertain yourself if you constantly caught your favourite fish well its like that. I have also heard from many people that they are tasty too. While some just like the fish for how it acts.
How to fish for them.
Please do not mistake bluegills for other sunfish. Bluegills are a give away because they are blue in colour and have green stripes. With hook size, you have to keep in mind that these fish swallow bait, so best to use hooks size 5-7. A most common bait for.them is worms. I personally despise little plastic baits for t hem they go up to it an realize its fake every time. The best time to catch them in morning and evening never in the afternoon they get extrmely lazy. A personal favourite bait for these guys are crickets or grasshopers because its natural for them they t ake it instantly
and you always catch the big ones because they are ones big who can swallow it. The thing to do after you catch them is to try to beat the size record and start guessiating the size when you are reeling them in. They sure try theyre best to put up a fight for theyre size. The sturctures that you will find bluegill around is rocks and shoreline sturucture and shade under trees. I think that bluegill prefer a lake enviroment. The personal aces that I would suggest are stocked ponds like mount pleasent ponds, lakes and resiorvoirs and anyplace you hear people mad at them is.an excellent spot currently.Remember when I said that you should guessimaite the fishes length when you are reeling them in the moment that you start getting it perfect everytime is a.sign that you need to move on to bigger game. Perhaps one day I will sum up catfishing like this. Please practice catch and release and respect these fish after all without them there would be less preadators.
