I need help on the boater exam, I have done it two times and failed both times. Can anyone please help me, I only need one for renting boats.

My suggestion is read the book a couple of times....pay particular close attention to the different buoys as a few of the questions will be about buoys that you probably have never seen before.
Dont feel too bad about failing. I failed my first attempt, but got it on the second and i have been small craft boating for years. Many of the questions are related to types of boating that i have no idea about(sailing in particular).

As pointed out in the previous post ,you are given a dockside lesson when renting a boat and therefore you don't need to acquire a licence. If at some point you decide to buy a boat then you will have to take the test and get your licence. I didn't bother to get my licence till after I sold my boat ,but wanted it in case I was given the chance to drive a friends boat.

I drove 3 hours up north last year to a place to rent boats and when I went the gentlemen working there asked me for my license and when I said I didn't have one. He told me he couldn't let me rent the boat. So, I had to fish from shore and it was decent because I found some good spots but it would have been better if I was on a boat. That's why I need one.

Normally if you rent you do not need a license but any lodge or boat rental place can require you to have one should they choose to rent to individuals. Just to cover themselves for insurance and liability purposes due to inept boat users like some people. If you have failed twice, I really won't reply as the test is very basic. You can cheat and do anything basically to pass. Go do it at Bass Pro sometime, they will give you the answers.
