Bottom bouncing vs. Spoons vs. Float fishing for steel

I am just wondering what everybodys prefered method for targetting staging steelhead is.
I've always been a big fan of bottom bouncing for early spring staging steel off the piers mainly just because I've had a higher success rate over tossing spoons and kwikfish. I have yet to try and float a roe bag around though.

I generally prefer float fishing when the fish are in the river. Off the piers and in the lake spoons are my go to lure, followed by jigs.

When you bottom bounce at the mouth, is your weight stationary or is it actually moving? I always wanted to try this if chucking wasn't producing.

Smaller creek mouths like the east, there isn't usually enough current to keep it moving. Its like carp fishing.

I like bottom fishing at the mouths but 2 seasons ago, I saw guys catching fish after fish float fishing with jigs at the pier.
