I went to the Bowmanville Valley Conservation on September 26. Haven’t been there for a while and also wanted to try out my new chest waders. Started fishing from about 6:30 Am , finished about 12:30 PM
I was using my the most favorite rod : Shimano Convergence 12’ 6†, action : slow (this is my “babyâ€) ; Line Pline 8 lb test, hooks: Octopus # 6 and #2 ; bait: roe .
O.K., I know that this set up (I mean line) is perhaps bit too light for mighty salmon, but it is so much fun too.
Al in all I had so much fun, salmon fishing is the best!!!!!!! I lost lot of hooks and few floats (salmon breaking my line multiple times) , I guess after landing my first fish, I was too impatient to go with all this procedure to tire out the fish and gently take it out, I guess I once I hooked fish, I was looking forward and started thinking about the next one – hence a lot of hooks lost and lot of line breaking…..
Nevertheless, I do not regret one bit
All in all I hooked (many ) & landed 4 salmon (all of them are released).
Here is my first “victimâ€
And this is second:
O.K. now strange bit, I said I landed 4 fish, but did not say how. O.K. 2 of them I hooked, but two of them I got just buy using my bare hands. Yes, bare hands, it’s true. How? Well, this creek is quite shallow in some parts, and sometimes it just happens that fish has problem finding right direction and ends up in shallow water so it can not get out of there any more. Well this is what happened to me, 2 of these just got stuck in shallow water near by and I had an easy task to “pick them upâ€, just like ripe fruit.
