Braid on Ultralight Setup?

Ontario Fishing Forums

Help Support Ontario Fishing Forums:

I use berkley nanofil, no stretch and same characteristics as braid. 6 lb if I recall correctly and it's white. Don't lean into the rod or I'm sure it will snap (the rod). BTW, the PP braid is probably good too.

I use power pro on a lot of my other setups, but not sure about it for ultralight, the one I was looking at is 4 pound ( it is also available in white ).

Thanks for the feedback CATFISH

the nanofil is good to bit a tad more expensive than others and i haven't found a difference so no point in spending a bit of change but this is all my personal preference it may be different for you, try them all out and see, buy the small spools

thats not exactly UL.........to me UL is using 4lb mono/fluoro or less
i usually use alb then run a 4LB leader, the braid is cuz i hate the memory of mono and the stretch

My ultra light setup is 4# mono. It has a really nice stretch to it and feels like fishing with thread. With that said, I cut off the worn chewed up end of the line before each trip which is about a yard or so. I don't take chances with nicks on this thin line.

I don't use braid for UL. I want some stretch on my line. I use 4lb mono green moss. I have landed 6-8lb pike on it no problem. although braid is good for casting long distance....my personal preference would still be mono.

it has some memory, all mono/fluoro lines do though, low stretch, easy to cast, i don't pay attention to the sink of it since i use heavy sinking lures with it
