Hello,

I'm new to fishing, learning how so me and my boyfriend can have something to do over the summer.
I haven't caught anything since I was little, but he was able to catch a small mouth and a few pumpkin seeds.

I just end up feeding the fish since I can never snag them, but going to try again next weekend. :3

I was wondering if anyone had some neat fishing spots in Brampton? We had luck today at the heartlake conservation though and I would like to try albion hills and professors lake.

I was also wondering ... Are worms the only choice? LOL.
I tried lures and nothing was biting, got some worms and you couldn't put them in the water without getting bites it was insane.

Any tips on how to catch your own worms help too, since I go through worms fast

To catch your own worms wait until there is a good rain, then go out after dark with a flashlight and pick them off the lawn. If you don't have your own lawn you can go to a park and pick them. Some times after a rain you can pick them off the sidewalks or driveways.

Professor's lake is a good spot,lots of panfish in there, other's that I've read about are Loafer's lake, norton place park and chinguacousy park. Search the forum and google,you'll get alot more of information.

I was also wondering if there was a way to get infomation about the ponds found in the GTA pound maps.
There is a pond really close to me, but I'm not sure if I'm able to find out if there is anything in it.

Some nights when the dew is high, you can get worms right off the lawn/garden. Tons come out after a rain, but you can still grab a bunch on non rainy nights. Use a flashlight, and cover the lens with some red transparent plastic and the worms willl be slower to retreat back into the earth. You may also look into making a worm farm, though its kind of late in the year to start one.(next year)
Also... get your boyfriend and go north of the city a couple/few of hours and camp and fish. The fishing north of barrie is great, and the further you go the better it is. Good luck with fishing! Any questions on gear/bait/techniques dont hesitate to ask....lots of wise angler folks around here!

It would be hard to get information about specifc location. There was a reports section on this site that you could contribute to it, that would give you access to other reports but that section is down for now. i think the best thing would be to just try. Start with a worm on hook and bobber, if there is anything live there, they most likely go for worm. If you caugth say sunfish or perch, then scal up your presentation, try plastic worms for bass, and keep going until you catch the mighty Muskie, then post s report (kidding)

To catch worms, water your lawn in the evening. Once its night head out with a flashlight. You'll see tons of them in the grass but you have to be fast to catch them. It takes a little bit of practice but you'll get the hang of it.

Use lighter line when you can - you may lose more fish from mistakes but u hook more too. Heavy line when the water is clear hurts - fish shy away from it in pressured situations- urban fishing. Credit river spring and fall - spring rainbows - specks - browns - fall salmon - browns with odd rainbows. Most close ponds have fish but tough fishing from pressure - plus smaller amounts. North bay and higher will give fishing a new name - after cutting your teeth locally. Another secret very little weight - natural presentation will hook you more too. Google places and get out there - early and late will also up your hook ups.

Great advice all around jim. Id rather hook into a fish and lose it, than not hook into it at all.
