Hey everyone.
Today I decided to do some fishing. I started at 6pm and went until 9:30pm at a local pond. This pond is stocked with Brook trout by the MNR. I was quite surprised to see the colour differences from wild and stocked Brook trout.I have caught many wild Brook trout before and they are much more colourful.
The bugs were quite abundant on this outing. I simply matched a dry fly to what I saw flying around and landing in the water. My fly of choice: light Cahill, #16.
Here is a photo of the Brook trout taking my light Cahill.
Here is the Brook trout close to shore after our little fight.
The weirdest part of the night was when I got a huge hit from a good sized Brook and upon bringing it in, I noticed something in it's mouth. Along side my fly was a 4 inch, blue plastic grub like worm (Bass bait style). The Brook trout must of been choking on the bait. Luckily before I got the Brook to shore it fell out. I guess someone was trying to fish using this plastic bait and lost it. The Brook trout then probably felt this was a good meal and tried to eat it.
Here is a picture of that Brook.
