Today GuitarBuildingAngler and myself were able to get out for another angling adventure.

We hit a local creek and were hoping to get lucky and get some brown trout action. Well, one of us must have had a horseshoe hidden somewhere, because we ended up catching at least 20 brown trout collectively.

At one point, an older gentlemen walked up to us, and began discussing the fishing. After hearing we were practicing C&R, the man whipped out a fly box, and gave us each a small hand-tied nymph that he had been having luck on recently. Just an awesome moment highlighting the camaraderie that can exist in this wonderful sport.

The fly I was having the most luck on (looking a bit beat up in the pic, a small hopper):

GBA was having the best luck with the little nymph the man had given us:

My first ever brown on the fly:

A few more brown from the evening:

With an hour left of daylight, we headed to another location close by for some specks, and GBA managed this little guy (sorry for the blurriness):

All in all, fantastic little outing! Looking forward to more!

Spey eh? I've always been interested in that - let me know how you find the transition!
