I was up in huntsville for the day on Sunday and managed a few hours fishing end of day, at the Brunel locks. Pretty slow going at first until I decided to roll up the pant legs and wade out into the middle of the fast moving section below the weir (water was bloody freezing!!)
Finally managed a pan size trout on the smallest gold wing spinner I have. I immediately declared the day a "win" and went to the pub. (Trout was released unharmed!)
There were a couple of locals fishing nearby and they were happy to share some local spots for trying my luck, including the weeds and reeds at the end of the lock canal running parallel with the river, and Hunters bay boardwalk over on the other side of town. I had fished the boardwalk across hunters bay the last time was up in Huntsville, lots of cover, definitely a weedless rig spot!
Keeping a telescopic 6ft in the trunk with a small tackle box of assorted pieces is working out nicely!!
