The reason I was considering waist-high waders is that, during trout fishing, I never wade waters that are high. For example, where I go to fish in the Grand river, there is obviously deeper water but I just sneak up to the hole in the shallower water and never have a need to actually wade that higher water. Nor do I want to during winter. In Bronte and the Credit, you only need to step in the water near the shore and can easily get around without going into any deeper water.
I've also never understood why people have waders in the Whirlpool? You're not going to wade that water?? and then you have to climb those stairs in waders, just not fun.
