Canadian Carp Grand Prix Championship

Leg 2

The second leg of the Canadian Carp Grand Prix will be held at Bayfront Park on Sunday July 8.We will meet at 6 am in the parking lot of Bayfront Park. Fees will be collected and contestants registered. The entrance fee will be $30.
At 6:30 am the peg draw will commence. Fishing will start at 8am and conclude at 3pm.

THE RULES

Competitors must comply with all Ontario and CAG fishing rules and regulations. Any entrant found to be in contravention of the rules could be disqualified.

The draw for pegs will be made about one hour before the scheduled start of the tournament, which will normally last for 7 hours. In the event of bad weather (e.g. thunderstorm), I will reserve the right to postpone or cancel the competition. However, only a minimum of four hours of fishing will be recognized as a complete competition.

Contestants will be free to go to their pegs as soon as they have drawn a peg. This will be their ‘fishing ground’ where they must fish for the entire competition. No peg can be moved without the consent of the event organizers.

Contestants may begin to check their swim for depth, current and temperature as soon as they get to their peg.

They may begin to bait their swim at that time also. There are no restrictions on the amount of bait you can put in.

Only live carp ( cyprinnus carpio ) caught fairly by rod and line and single hook will be weighed and counted.

Only 1 rod (or pole) and line with a single hook (no trebles etc.) is to be in use at any given time. Additional rods/poles may be assembled and ready for use on the bank if required.

All live and dead fish, frogs, live crayfish, artificial lures (with the exception of artificial boilies, sweetcorn and maize), flies or any harmful bait or groundbait cannot be used. Earthworms, mealworms, maggots, corn and typical (not harmful to fish) baits used by carp anglers are permitted together with the usual bread, paste and particle baits.

No bait, groundbait, tackle or equipment can be given to a competitor by anyone during the course of the competition.
Competitors must restrict their activities to their peg boundaries. Their equipment or groundbait shall not intrude into their neighbours’ swim.

If an angler leaves their peg for any reason they must take their line out of the water. With the following exception.

Due to the possibility of hooking a large carp and taking into account the shape of the shoreline an angler will be allowed to move from their peg in order to land the fish. Adjacent anglers are expected to act in a sportsmen like manner and extend coutesy to the angler playing the fish.

Pre-fishing and pre baiting the venue will be allowed up to the Wednesday prior to the event.

At the end of the tournament, to be eligible for the weigh-in, competitors must clear their pegs of all litter and be prepared to transfer their catch from the keepnet into the weighing basket as soon as tournament officials approach their peg. For safety reasons, bank sticks must be removed from keepnets prior to transferring fish. Unless attending to Club duties, absence from a peg at the time of the weigh-in will result in the catch not being counted towards the angler’s standing.

Only live fish will be counted and weighed. Anglers must return all live fish to the water after weighing.

Don't forget to lecture them all on how their favourite fish is an invasive species.... and be sure to ask if you can use a bow to kill the fish before dumping it...on a farm.

I wish I could go, you are going to make SO many new friends....!

Was just in a tackle shop yesterday and around 10 guys were in there who were all completely shocked to hear the position that a select few members here were pushing to the public. Something tells me that not all Carp anglers are so arrogant and I will probably make a friend or two. I love fishing for Carp as much as the next guy, I really hope I am able to make it out, I bought some new Carp gear and I am ready to step up my game!

What is IAP? thanks

IAP is the Invasive Species Awareness Program. Sorry its actually ISAP, to be honest im not sure if im doing it for them or the OFAH or whoever lol all I know is they are sending me a hit and I gotta take my Canoe out to Conestoga lake and take 3 samples from opposite ends of the lake. Its not focused on Carp as they already know about Carp. It is more focused on diseases, invasive invertibrates and plants and that sort of thing. It is to help build a data source for research I believe. Check out ISAP on facebook, if you “like” them then you get a lot of informative posts on your news feed.

Also not trying to derail this thread with off topic posts, just answering a question. Please don’t delete  LOL gonna be a great tourney!
