Hello,
So fortunately for me, I have a week off work next week, and plan on hitting up Caledonia dam next week.
Anyone been there recently?

Hows the water conditions?

I know theres been alot of rain lately, but the GRC website says water levels are normal.

Lemme know!

Water flow will be fine. Should be some bass and catfish around, maybe the odd walleye or pike. Good luck!

Looking forward to it for sure.
I havent been to the dam this year, been super busy with work.
I gotta find my waders!

Caledonia dam receives tons of pressure, and is shoulder-to-shoulder most weekends.. I went there about a week ago and I saw nothing caught but one small bullhead (guy was using worms on a float). Realistically at this time of the year, you've gotta focus on locating the fish/finding places that haven't been pressured like crazy.
I'd suggest bushwhacking and finding some new quiet spots.. It's always fun and good for the health to get a good hike in to find a secret spot!.. Not to mention the reward that comes with finding such a place!
Regardless of what you choose to do, I hope you enjoy your week off and wish you the best of luck!

Happy fishing

If you do choose to bushwack, don't try the still water areas near cayuga or above the caledonia dam. Not enough oxygen in these areas.

The area in front of the dam is just as shoulder-to-shoulder as it is along the bank. On some days it is even busier.

There are a few selected areas in front of the dam where you can have safe wading and access to productive waters. So it really isn't better to wade out.

Wait...did I just say that? Nevermind. Wade out...there is nothing to be caught from shore.

Lol, yea i know. especialyl with bow season coming, the heavier side of teh dam will be shoulder to shoulder.

I will probably go out during a weekday morning. Probabaly wont be as busy since people have to work n stuff.

i remember last year around this time, i had a pretty good run at the dam.

The dam is almost always a good spot if you wade. Of course there are bad days, like anywhere, but I have done well this year with Bass, Cats and Gar. Lots of fish and fun. Another OFF member met me there for the first time and landed a 36 inch 'eye. Biggest I've seen there.
Water levels have been normal to slightly low all year.

Alfie.

went on sunday and yesterday night ... water level were still lower and clarity was alittle on the muddier side ... missed a huge one end of the night with a top dog mirrolure
