What a weekend! Left the house at 3;30 am friday and was at my property by 5. dropped our gear off and headed for a very popular dam on a huron trib. We get there at 6 and theres already atleast 40 guys! After about an hour and a bunch of tangles we gave up and hit plan b ( thanks ronnie t.o for the tip!). Fished plan b for a while and just as I look up from adjusting my rig I see my buddies rod has a nice bend in it! FISH ON! Wow these fish fight alot harder than lake O fish. A few jumps and some solid runs and we had the fish on the bank! A few snaps of the camera and away he went. After another hour or so we packed up and went back to camp to set up and get a good pile of wood for the weekend. We woke up the next morning to find the ground and all of our gear covered in a thick layer of frost, perfect camping weather eh? We packed up and headed back to plan b. It being a weekend we expected crowds but other than rusty420 and raptizzle we were about the only ones on the river! We fished the drift my buddy got his fish yesterday hard with no takers, so I decided to grab a few worms and roe bags and work my way downstream. While drifting a live worm behind a log my float shoots down and I set the hook, after a few head shakes the fish went for a run and like a moron my drag was too tight and SNAP! My first taste of true northern chrome. I walked back to my gear and retied while mumbling ever swear word I know haha Back to the same spot with a fresh worm on my hook, cast, drift, FISH ON! This time My drag was right and I was in for a fight! Again big runs but no jumps this time. I got the fish in after one hell of a fight. Now I usually practice strictly catch and release but have never ate trout before so we put this one on the stringer. After a smoke and a beer I had another worm on my hook and was drifting the same run. About 10 mins later my float shoots down again and Im into another fish. Not the biggest fish only around 3pounds but it still managed to put up a fight a 7 pounder in lake O would give! After getting it to the bank and getting the hook out I kept the fish in my net in the water while my buddy got the camera ready. Well this fish managed to stretch through a hole in the net and swam away before I could get a pic! The rest of the day was pretty slow with nothing but a couple missed hook sets. The next day we hit a gbay trib, we didnt have much time so I suggested we run and gun ( fish no more than 10 mins at each pool unless we hit one). Were fishing one pool and my buddy gets one on, a few headshakes and she spits the hook! About an hour later Im fishing one pool and my buddys fishing one right below me, im drifting my go to bait of the weekend, live worm, see my float drop and BAM fish on! Couldnt fight like the others because this wasnt big open water but still a fight for the ages! After getting her in, popped the hook out and away she went! What a way to end the weekend! I also learned this weekend my property is on the main geen not the rocky saugeen. Im thinking of one more weekend like this before the new year, if anyone is down let me know!!!

Looks like you guys had a blast. Liking the run and gun technique, covering water looking for active fish usually pays off. Great report, good times.

Dont worry bud that property isnt getting sold any time soon. I really wanna do one more weekend up there before dec 31st hopefully we can get some more people to come up and you can hitch a ride, unless you got snow tires by then :p Its too bad about your tire size i have a set of 205/65/15 snows and pair of 205/55/16 snows id sell you for dirt cheap, fisherman discount! haha

I think I was at the spot you went to first on Saturday as well. I was shocked by how few people were there at 7am. I went to the island side and set up beside the only other 2 guys there. Then all of a sudden by 10 am it was as busy as ive ever seen it. Quite a slow day too so dont feel bad if some of the guys you were with didnt get any fish. I went 2/3 after a good 7 hours on the water and saw alot of guys leave without even having a fish on!
