Can you identify this fish?

True and true, but part of my point was that they are a predator and live in waters where they can catch smaller fish, like other predators. Not weedy bogs or marshes. I can't say they taste good but they are eating the same things Walleye, Bass and Pike (all tasty) eat. The Grand is not exactly a weedy bog or marsh below the various dams where I have caught them.

I heard that bass are not too tasty because of a line or something...

hay if you didnt no what species it was why did you keep it ? what if it was out of season or even better on the endangered list or under or over the slot limit dont want to bash you but do yourself a faver and educate yourself before you keep something you shouldnt and get in trouble for it and if your ever unsure again take a photo and let it go

I'm a C&R guy for the most part but I have had Smallies in the past and the line can be removed before cooking and they are quite tasty.
