Cannon Downrigger Help Needed

Hi Guys. I have an older Cannon easy troll. The gear that is fixed on the main shaft has come loose and is not turning the counter. How do I remove the main shaft for disassembly? I've removed the handle and the other side components, but the shaft will not come out. Any suggestions?
