Question to all you Carp fishers. What line do you prefer and why?
Mono vs braid
Was thinking mono for the stretch but also braid for strength and line capacity. What are your thoughts?
Thanks

Ive always been a fan of mono. I find that braid always gets twisted and tangled never had any luck with it.

When spin casting for carp, i use braid line.

Fly fishing.. fluro leader, but like Kit said, TCP is your man for carp on the fly.

for carp it's all about a nice 30-50 pound braided line and a 24-36 inch tip of Floro (12-15 pound) is what i roll with...

strength is there, reduced visibility of the floro, and no stretch as you want to feel the carp take your bait or lure as they are good at spitting out whatever they dont want, and quick....with mono you may not feel the slight 'take' unless the carp does a swim by hit.

my 2 cents hope it helps

Thanks guys that's a ton of info keep it coming. Might I add I'm planning on fishing with boilies and maybe a feeder. Just baought the spin bait caster and a carp rod. Caught carp before as a bycatch but this year I'm going to actually start targeting them. Fights I've had were just wicked. Wondering why it took me so long to come around and start to target them. :)

I use heavy steelhead rods and a centerpin for carp, 15' rod 14lb main and 12-10lb leader. Fight is lame with a spin rod and 20lb line for me.
