Carp on weedy bottoms

The pond nearest to me has a weedy bottom. What sort of carp presentation should I be using? I went out for a few hours and I believe my hair rig is getting lost/tangled among the weeds.

You could try this. Get some of those "packing peanuts" made from cornstarch. Impale one on your hair rig not on the hair but on the hook itself. Cast it out. The hook will float for a few seconds and when the peanut dissolves in the water the baited rig will gently drop on top of the weeds.
You could switch to a paylake rig like I use. Use a light egg sinker and the pack bait won't sink too far in the weeds. When the packbait falls apart the puff will float up above the packbait. After a while the hook baited with the puff will begin to sink gently and slowly . It will rest on top of the weeds.

Sounds like a good alternative to PVA foam for tipping the hook!

Also I didn't think about the paylake style as an option for weeds. The mass of the packbait should be more than enough to get a good cast out, so I could use a really light sinker on the line. Would also protect the hook point. Awesome!

Definitely more simple than tying Chod rig.

Now if only I could get my packbait to stay together on the cast and not fly off in some other direction

to fish in light weed,you have several choices of how to present your baited hook, chod rig is the best here in the uk,but as mentioned its difficult to tie up,but believe me it works a treat,but you have to fish it on a slack line, or you can use a pop up rig,or you can put everything including your sinker/baited hook/and some extra baits, in a pva bag and cast it out,just google what ive mentioned and you will see what i mean.
