Hi everyone. I am going fishing tonight for carp. I need a rig that is unlikely to get snaged on logs and rocks. Th water is only 1-8ft deep. Any help appreciated.

I don't know how likely this rig is too get snagged, but this is my go to carp rig.

I use a small hook (size 8 ) with a weight 12-18 inches up. For bait I use mini wheats, soaked in water so they don't break when I put the hook in. I also use bread when sight fishing for them, when I use bread I do not put a weight on the line.

Hope this gives you an idea. If you google carp rigs, you would be able to find one that would work. Cheers.

The only thing I can suggest is to not move your rig around on the bottom. Cast it in, and leave it alone. When you retrieve it , lift your rod up sharply and reel in fast . This should help.
There is no such thing as a snag free rig when you are fishing bait on the bottom. You could also try different shaped weights.

Ya you shouldn't really have to worry too much about snags on a carp rig. Maybe on the retrieve, the only suggestion is to catch a fish every time and then you dont have to worry. I too use a small circle hook with a weight about 1-2 feet up the line. I prefer the bread ball method, make sure the bread is fairly fresh and only use the center of it not the crust or the ball will break up and not stay on the hook.

gl and we expect pictures.

Anyways off to the river,
