This evening exemplified a typical windy day I struggle with. The struggle is how to deal with high winds when casting. Aside from lure/setup choice, how do you guys deal with wind, more specifically, do you cast against the wind or with it? This evening the wind was blowing hard towards me (the shore). I fought with it and figured I'd throw in the towel, but the fish were hitting (almost like they we naturally blowing closer to me). So I figured it was a good thing??

Hey Klamp,

My favorite time to fish for pike, walleye, perch or bass is in very windy condition....fish will be where the wind is hitting...why? becayse wind creates more then average waves, waves carry bait fish who can't seem to get out of the waves and are push to shore.....its a big feeding frenzy more of the time.

So you're saying fish the windward side of say a lake or an island on a lake?

Agreed, Kickster, I have had some of the best fishing of my life in wind/breeze.... a shoreline being pounded by waves. In Parry Sound District at the cottage I stand from shore and force a spinner into the wind and always the Smallies are going crazy in shallow water with the wind raging. Yes, pushes in food and warm water and FISH!
