Hello to all you Crazy Snowed in Bassers !!

Always looking for some new bass and pike waters and having had some good times in and around Gananoque and Charleston Lake over the years, my buddies have suggested working up the Cataraqui River this summer starting at Kingston Mills, on up through River Styx and into Brewers Lock further up the Cataraqui/Rideau River.

I've heard that Colonel By Lake and River Styx are pretty shallow and filled with stumps,,, sounds like some pretty good Largemouth and Pike water. Has anybody had any success fishing these parts ?

Thanks everyone !!

It use to be amazing fishery but it took a kicking a few years ago as did a lot of lakes on the Rideau system.
When you get up to Iron man bay watch for stumps and when your in the sticks area you'll venture from the safety of the shipping channel.
Enjoy your time its a beautiful lake

Thanks Dwayne_brame.. good advice.

Late last summer we fished around the Long Sault area while camping at Farran Park (ordinary camping but good times with some good camping neighbours) and sure got into some stumpy stuff around Whoople creek. Pretty slow bassing - late august usually is - but the pike were cooperating late in the day.

Plus loads of 12-14 inch perch... never anything wrong with that.

We have some friends that camp now and then at Rideau Acres on Colonel By lake (more for canoeing than fishing, get they said they still get lots of crappies and smallish pike)... so we will check it out.

Thanks !!
