Caution products may cause cancer

I was in a store one day picking out rods, when I read labels warning that the SPONGE HANDLES that were on The rods could cause CANCER. I was shocked cus they were for kids. I have two boys an the first thing I did was put them back, an grabbed the cork handle rods. So if you ever want to buy rods I think this is something to look for. Looks like I will be getting rid of those sponge hands after all........

tell me about it buddy! It is on reels, many of lures and pretty much everything. They put that lable only if the product is also sold in LA, USA, since by regulations they have to declare if for that state. Otherwise, you will not see it, but it does pose the cancer risk. On the other hand, what does not cancer these days? Have you read the manual of your car, vaccum cleaner, sofa, etc! everything has toxins that cause cancer and then people get surpised why 1 in every 3 peopel in North America gets cancer, while in the undeveloped world the ration is far far less!

What I am saying is that people get exposed to carcionegic materials every minute of the day but they do not notice, becuase a lot of products do not come with a label declaring it. That warning lable you saw was there most likely becuase that product is also sold at the state fo california. I just got a Shimano 2500 reel and there was a similar lable on it, same thing in the brochure (fine print) of pretty much every product! If you really want to get away from such materials, you have to find an island that is not touched by mankind, even then the winds will blow radioactive on you from Japan!

Have been on this for a long time and it is a sad truth that we have contaminated our entire environment and there seem to be no way to get out of this mess! Once read a very interesting article that had focused on this, saying that we are so much after the "cure" that we have forgotten to see "why" the rate of cancer is so high in the developed countries
