Starting to get a collection of beat up and chewed flies, what do you guys do with them?
Any easy way of taking off old material and re using the hooks?

Yup, if they are hooks worth saving or if they have valuable materials slide a razor blade down the shank, if there isn't much to save you could chuck em. Another good option is to donate them to one of the many fly fishing charities.

I used to pick 'em apart to save beads, cones, hooks but now I just chuck them - flies that produce don't last too long

Beads, eyes and cones are the only thing I would keep and that being said I dont go out of my way to do so. All the veterans wind up on the cork board behind my tying bench, affectionately named "The collective"

got a few old tims cups burried in my trunk with some mashed up old flies tucked inside. i feel bad tossing them because a lot of them got mangled by producing fish.
need to make a hall of fame cork board for the ones with good stories behind them

That will be a great idea. It goes well with a picture of the fish you caught.
