in my personal experience forget about bps rods. get a st.croix at smaller store dfor around the same proce and your getting a way better rod. hope this helps.

Isn't st.croix going to set me back 200.00 also they do break as well from what I heard not sure how much truth there is to that all rods will break I suppose if miss-handled. Did you have any particular st. croix rod line in mind?

I agree with ght you'll get better quality for around the same price. Not to say BPS doesn't sell good stuff its just that sometimes in my opinion its better to spend the money for a known product thats around the same price range.

I heard that Shimano does not make particularily good rods is this true? I suppose that each company has good quality rods but you need to be willing to pay for the quality. I know that st croix and gloomis as well as others make great rods I guess I will take a look at these brands maybe I will look at the Avid series

My understanding is that Shimano bought G Loomis a couple of year ago, and since then the quality of the rods have improved for the Shimano line.

I am looking to buy a walleye rod something more sensitive I am willing to spend $100.00 to $150.00 Any suggestions?

Also someone mentioned the smaller shops can you get better deals than Basspro and LEbaron?

Baitcasting or spinning?

Sorry should have been more precise spinning I have not gone to the dark side of baitcasting yet :?: ... just kidding about the dark side I just don't have time to learn how to use one and I am pretty accurate when casting with a spinning setup so never saw the need but maybe when I go after Musky I will pickup a baitcasting combo

The rod should be a medium action spinning rod anywhere from 6'6" to 7'0" and it has to be a 2 piece setup I would buy 1 piece but I am worried that I may break it when transporting.
