Well of course your seeig this as wondering...... "stupiddd just reel it slowly back and so on". But what I'm talking about is Bouncing off rocks or logs to trigger bites. Well yah it sounds easy enough when your reading it but is it really? And I also thought I was when reading in magazines how pro just "simply" use cranks to tigger bass bites so easily.

Being new I had 2 crankbait to start with. A tail dancer and a 4ft sinke. Already lost the dancer to a rock I believe and to afarid to usethe sinker now. As these little bugger aren't cheap :p

Share your techiques and experience with crank bait here. It would be great for beginners like myself to learn from. For example, what bait ( sink, float, dancer, etc) and targeting what type of fish.

Cranks are more effective from a boat since you can retrieve them much more easily. You can buy a lure retriever which will save you money in the long run if you'll be shore fishin alot. Technique varies...some good ones include 1 foot snap, snap, snap pause. Especially effective on shallow running cranks. Cast between weed and into pockets and try to run the crank deep then let it float up when the weeds go shallow.

I was shocked at the fishing section I found at Dollarama the other day. They had about 20 different crankbaits, and each one was different! I picked one, which looks fantastic and I can't wait to try it out for pike and walleye.

I bought a pack of 8 hooks, and due to lax production inspection, there were actually 16 hooks in the package :D They work great.

They also had spinners that look identical to Mepps, so I grabbed one too. If they work, that's huge savings compared to brand names. When fishing somewhere new or somewhere with a lot of potential snags, I'd rather lose a $1 imitation Mepps than a $6 spinner.

Theres one crank in the dollarama that my buddy swears to...he had caught a number of small bass on it and it worked great....until he got a good one on it, then the hook hangers blew apart and he lost the 3-4 lb smallie. It'll be interesting to hear if yours holds up.
