Has anyone ever tried catching crayfish in the fall?
Yes, I know that you can only use them as bait in the exact same place that you caught them, and that you can't legally catch them at night unless you are leaving a trap overnight.
Lately, in a spot where I usually see a lot of crayfish hanging out at night, there have been none. Does this mean that they are already hiding out for the winter? I am considering buying a small net and wading out into the river, turning over rocks and seeing how many I can catch.
Would this be futile in October, or will I still be able to find them?
Any tips would be appreciated (but no illegal tips please). I will post an update after I try this week.
