Hi, I was wondering if anybody can help me out with a question....
Do I have any chance of catching salmon, rainbow trouts (steelhead) during late july to august?

I would appreciate your input.

Salmon, yes absolutely. Steelhead come in a little bit later.

For salmon, during late July and August, you want to fish the mouth of the Credit River (cast into the lake). I would try casting cleos right at dawn for the best chance to hook into a Chinook. Some bonus Browns can also be had.

Find the Red X on the map below. That is the exact spot where you want to go. Cheers.

hmm i still think its a bit too early, even though it is a cold summer.

You're probably right about that Efka, but it's not impossible. My earliest salmon caught at the mouth of the Credit R was July 13th a few years ago. By early August they should definitely begin staging at the River mouths.

Geez~

Openfire makes it sounds like summer is already over. Have we even hit the peak hot summer?

Weather past few years have been confusing.

But I too will toss some spoons cold nights next month.

Plus, if you see the regular locals show up... it's a sign.

I too will be trying earlier this year for the salmon, but at Ashbridges bay instead of the credit.

I'll join in.
But peak fishing hours may not too ideal for you.

Frozenfire will join in too... don't even need to ask because he won't want to miss the action.

Count me in for Ashbridges bay too!!! So far we have : David Kearney , MikeyMikey , Frozenfire , myself... .

Port credit is definitely better place as far as number of salmon goes, but Ashbridges bay is much closer to me and much easier to fish from...

Is the water polluted at the mouth of the credit river?...thats the rumour ive been hearing

Be careful when fishing in Port Credit off the rocks. This can be a tricky place to fish because of huge rocks, fishing in the dark, etc.

with all people there and their glow spoons its pretty light, lol
but use the flashlight anyway.
try not to go on the weekends, too many idiots who bought 9.99 combos and 2oz lures trying to catch salmon for the first time in their life, saw few times times how a person got nailed in the head with heavy lure when the bozo was side casting.
