Couldn't fish on opening weekend but had a chance to go out on Monday..
First time fishing beyond highway 2 of eastern tribs.. so pretty excited..
Got to my first trib around 6 AM already one car parked in parking lot.. later learned that the place was packed on opening weekend..
Bit hard to find fishable pools since all of them are taken (saw one car parked but also saw like ten people fishing)
Came across this bit shallow pool with few steelies in it.. Approached as quietly as possible and cast..
First time catching the fish on my first cast.. Actually saw him/her? (not sure..) chasing my roe bag downstream and take it..

Went bit upstream since no biting but nothing there.. Back down again found one nice pool. Landed two but lost five in about 2 hours.. Bit frustrated but tried not to and enjoy fishing..

Crowds peaked around 10 30AM so decided to move to different creek. Got there but the parking lot was full.. s*t!!
Anyways, had my lunch and I hiked more to find my own spot.. About an hour of hiking, I noticed that crowds suddenly disappeared and no one around.. When I went there last week to check out the fish, I saw few hikers but saw no one that time...
I even called MNR to check if I'm in sanctuary area.. Luckly I wasn't.. So I go..
And finally.. saw this pool with one or two fish in it.. So I apporached quietly.. as I got close I saw like 20 of them swimming totally unware of me. (I try very hard not to spook them)
When I started to cast it was already 1 30 PM and I only have 30 minutes at max to fish.. (Had other schedules beside fishing..)
Hooked and Landed two.. what a nice way to finish the fishing..

Although, I lost five of them..I can see that my landing ratio is improving now..

Nice work!

Surprised you got all bucks.

For my opener, I would say for every 10 fish I landed, 9 were hens and 1 was a buck.

Could be my fault  I have been encouraging my fishing buddies to release the females if not all. In one case I landed two males and gave them the fish so they released the two females they had in water on a stringer

Thanks for the report and photos. Like you, I rather fish alone in a hole with one fish, than fishing with 10 people in a hole that holds 200 fish. Takes a lot of legwork though. In one recent outing I walked for 11 kilometers :)). Discovered lots of things in this 6 hour walk

great fish ! if you are doing long walks and bushwackin, i have found a machete a pretty handy tool. it is a double edge sword though(no pun intended) as once you clean a trail from blow-downs, others use the trail that you cleared right to the honey holes, although nobody cuts in on the guy with a huge knife lol

Thanks guys..
Puting some legwork sure is great way to fish..At least for me..
Its like discovering a new world.. Never thought I could come across those beautiful scenes an hour drive from toronto..
I'll post some pictures next time I go there..

Really nice , healthy and clean looking bucks , well done .
I too just yesterday walked the equivilent of about 8 miles up and down the Credit river in three different locations and managed to see and catch only 3 bows , 2 hens and a small male .
Other than that , it was suckers , chub and smallmouth bass .

Thank you Notta Steeler..

My last outing this spring ended up hooking and landing one dropback..

Overall its was fantastic spring steelheading for me.. I'll keep updating pics this fall!!

I nailed a brown on Saturday fishing a pheasant tail. I don't know if it was a migratory brown or not, but it looked too big for the average resident trout. Like 6 pounds.
