Fished from dawn to dusk today!

+7 degrees Celsius 8)
Rain to colour the water
Fresh chrome
Getting fish all day when you started off just hoping for one
Wiping out in a set of rapids, waders filling up with frigid water :D

Unforgettable memories :-D

Nice fish
Looks like you caught a sweet day!
I tried to head out yesterday but unfortunately I couldn't make it happen
Looks like this Monday may be decent?

very nice, is it just the pic or is that roe bag in the last pic almost golf ball status?

A little bit of column A, a little bit of column B.

That roe bag is about half or a little more than half a golf ball. But that shot is very deceiving.

The steelies in these shots are mostly 23", some a couple inches bigger, with the exception of that last one which is tiny.

I did not measure it, but it was just a little shaker, under 20". Don't want all of my shots to look the same, so I experimented with that one. Funny what a difference the camera angle can make!

salmotrutta,

Great fish! You seem to have them dialed right in! Great day of fishing 8)

These fish were surprisingly clean. In fact, I didn't see a lamprey mark all day. Rare not to see any imperfections on any steelhead, they must be doing a good job controlling the lampreys. Or maybe the fish that run at this time of year do a better job of avoiding them?

Looking at these pics now, the 3rd and 5th kind of look like males that haven't developed their kype yet. Funny how these pics turned out, they were in fact easily identifiable females. I have more shots if you are in doubt lol.

I was using heavier line and tighter drag than I normally do, and also targeting a lot of very fast pools. Maybe it was the drag and line, but I found that steelhead tended to tire out much faster in fast rapids, than in slow deep pockets. If you get one on in fast water and it doesn't swim out of the fast water, they become disoriented quite quickly. I had to tend to the darker male and release him with care in slower water.

i see a worm.

FYI no worms in these shots, I only used one nightcrawler all day and it fell off my hook before I caught anything on it.

I wouldnt say its rare to see clean fish with no marks, infact I think its the complete opposite for me. Nice fish though

Thanks!

"Rare not to see any imperfections on any steelhead": Emphasis on any steelhead, meaning not a single imperfection all day. On the tribs I usually fish, if I have a high single digit or double digit day, I usually come across lamprey marks.

NIce job ST...glad to see you're still at it and doing pretty well....
