hello, my friends,

southwestern this year is going to be hit hard with deer ticks....mostlikely all of ontario.
because of global warming the heat is causing more and more.

i have found 2 in my house so far.....yes i fish in the country and deers are rampant in this area.
always the day after.

in my family or my household i am the only one that goes fishing. so im the easy one to blame......
what have you guys been to doing to prevent them?
anyone got any stories of if they were bit by them??
what do you suggest.

this is not just a small "mono or braid" subject.....this is serious problems that we will have this year here in ontario.

the steps i follow to ensure i dont get bit while fishing are
1.wear long sleeve shirts and jeans
2.tuck my shirt in my pants and my jeans in my long sleave socks
3.bug repellent(containing DEET)
4.show right wen i get home
5.cheack alllll my clothes when i get home and frequently when fishing.

i dont know if im missing anything.
well guys and gals, we need to spread the warning about this.
any suggestions would help, because the LAST thing we need is Lyme disease.

cheers

My friend got bitten by a tick while fishing a couple of years ago and developed Lyme disease. He had to undergo treatment at the hospital for quite a while before he got better.

The insects were driving me crazy tonight up north. No repellent, no long sleeved clothing, so I was definitely under prepared.

I've never been attacked by such a variety of those blasted things. Some were so tiny, and made me itchy just by walking on my skin. Others buzzed incessantly as they made laps around my head. Some sucked blood, some left bites. The warm weather and water is great - but there are definitely some advantages to the cold.
