This round of custom painted lures i wanted to give the fish some colour schemes they have never seen before. SO armed with some Krylon spraypaints, a roll of grid drywall tape, and some painters tape i went to work. I cant wait to get these coated with envirotex and try them out!! I find its much easier to get quality pics before coating the lures with the near mirror like envirotex topcoat. As i was looking at the lures i thought up some amusing names for the different paintjobs.(yeah, yeah small things amuse small minds...lol)

Wow were these fun to paint!! I have 4 more that i will have pics of very soon.

Thanks for the compliments guys! Float_drifter...really they dont take too long to paint. I have many pics for a step-by-step tutorial that should be done by this weekend sometime.(maybe early next week) I have found that my experience as an ex-cabinetmaker/finisher and a current minature painter has been quite an advantage in this endeavor!
Blair- yeah!! start saving those lures up! I am almost done all that i have currently, so i am on a mission for more lures to keep me experimenting bigtime.

I am also looking into getting an airbrush, i know i could do some serious patterns using an airbrush!!

Well 5am and i am going to finish getting my gear together for some camping and fishing today....with any luck we'll hit some nice pike, walleye and crappie this morning/afternoon/evening/night. Have a great day and we'll see you all tomorrow afternoon.

Brilliant Buddy, just brilliant. I was wondering how they might come out because of the engrained scale patterns, simply amazing! Love that Bee 52 pattern, almost like the jailbird I have on some musky baits. Well done RedSkullz. Now, they certainly catch fisherman, do they catch fish? lol

I can tell you from experience the Green Girdded Bass works (At least when it was black). [This pic was from last summer, not OOS].

very nice....how much time is involved in that , and how did you learn it ?

Thanks...most of the time in these is not spent painting them but in waiting for layers of paint to dry. I picked up a few things off the internet looking at painting lures, and then thought of colour schemes that i think would be cool.

Kit-i'd do some custom painting for cash/lures for sure! Send me a pm.

Reefrunner- thanks for the compliments and the lure selection!! I have your frog popper ready for envirotex...will take pics tonight of it and 4 others. I am waiting for some less humid weather before applying envirotex. I'd bet anything that these are going to catch fish!! The flourescant orange/tiger stripe ripplin redfin grabbed 5-6 pike the first day i used it but none of the fish were worth digging the camera out for.(biggest was maybe 6 pounds) The finish is scratched, but in good shape still. The last couple of times we've been out the weather has been cold and rainy, so the cranks havent been producing too much. I am looking foward to getting more lures and experimenting more.

3 more cranks painted up...one more i forgot to add some spots.
