Apologies about the close up of my big ugly mug. I had to hold the fish up high for a specific, clandestine reason.

Scraped off a large amount of loose eggs, kept some as skein, and got some big fillets to boot. Have never eaten Gbay salmon and I haven't eaten any Huron salmon since my health crashed this year. When I eat some of this salmon, it will be a good test for me, because I am very sensitive to polluted fish and even a tiny perch from the wrong waters effects me.

At 30"+, as far as I understand this was big for a GBay salmon.

Oh, and might I add, I was exclusively using Dollarama spinners today :)

I know a certain OPP friend of mine that uses nothing but chrome spinners for Chinook and he hooks many indeed .
Chinooks will hit anything that simulates " bait fish " , it"s burned in their brains from living in the lakes and eating nothing but .
Great catches , many Chinooks are still being caught at the mouth of the river ...it ain't over yet .

I'm so happy I read this. My eyes have been opened.

Also, that's a weird looking spinner? Why does it look like a mirror image inside the mouth? Almost like it's 2 spinners side by side?

My bud fishes vibrax spinners lots and does well. on the right day they can outfish other tactics. Put the single siwash hook on that comes with it. Fish heavier line with spinners for nooks as you can lose lures on the initial strike sometimes! How are you going to prepare your fish?

Wow! I totally wouldn't have noticed that. The fish was thrashing while I was trying to get a pic, perhaps that's why it came out like that? Or it's some kind of reflection effect off the blade itself, the blade is totally silver and pretty large.

Here's another pic:

Looking at this second pic, it's clear that what we are seeing is the reflection off the blade. Dollarama spinners FTW lol!

It fought like hell. Like with women, when you are hooked up with a good fish, in that moment it's the only fish that matters to you and you forget about all of your previous ones. I'm still buzzing and hope to return for more sooner rather than later...

Recently spooled up with 8lb Trilene, I had been using 6lb before. I'm glad I went with 8lb. I felt confident fighting this beast, and I didn't have waders so chasing it was not an option.

How are you going to prepare your fish?

Good question..not too sure yet. I usually just add a little lemon to fresh fish. Over a fire would be nice though, hmmm...mmmm..lol

That's a Dollarama spinner? Wow I didn't know those things actually SPIN :p. I bought some cheap spinners from wal-mart 2 years ago and they didn't spin so they were a waste. I should have a look then at the Dollarama spinners :)

I guess you found some loose girls?

Skein actually, but almost loose, so picking off the eggs was easy.

Nice! Meat still looks orange!

The meat is actually very pale, basically white.

Nice fish. Maybe I need to take a trip out to dollaramma.

Of all the spinners they sell, I pretty much only buy the one pictured, it comes in a 2 pack, and the other one in the pack is green and gold I believe. The big silver/mirror one has proven excellent for all species of fish. I got a steelhead with the exact same spinner at Port Albert a little while ago but didn't land it. If a 20lb chinook caught on 8lb line with a 7 ft rod, head shaking and jumping for 5 minutes didn't put a dent in it, I know it's well made. That's not to say the other spinners wouldn't work. But there's only so many hours in a day, and so I go with the one I think will work the best.

Nice fish!!! I prefer doubleloons when tossing spinners at the Notty. I think I know where you are fishing. Any bows yet-thinking of heading up next week.
