different rods....

would I also favour the single hander on smaller rivers for steelhead over the switch?

Remy,
You may find that in time, the switch becomes the rod you go to for steelhead. The smaller systems, like the Bighead or Bronte are still not too small for the switch. The only reason I use my single hander now is for a change and that's very occasionally.

so the single hander may have been a waste? I wanted to use it for steel in tighter rivers and for big bass poppers and such on the lake ....work?

To me having options for rods is always a plus. Like when I'm fishing for bass with a spinning rod, I keep my bait caster loaded at the ready with a football jig. I've caught many fish off other people's fish. Three or four bass chasing another that's hooked. Drop that jig and hang on. I never see gear as a waste, anything can happen.

For me my 6 weight 11 foot switch has taken over. I just carry a head for indies and a head for swinging and boom im in. I really feel i can cover any situation with this setup. Now my 10 foot 6 weight just collects dust waiting for something bad to happen to the switch.
