So I got tired of all my rods leaning up against the wall in my shop so I made a simple holder. Went to Home Hardware and picked up a piece of 8ft 2x4 for $3.50.

I got 1 piece of 8ft 2x4 cut it in half so 2 pieces of 4ft 2x4 I then took 6" off both pieces for arms that attach the base to the top.

I then drilled 8 1 1/2" holes for the rod ends to go though on the top plate spaced 4" apart.

Then get 8 deck screws or whatever you have in the shop to put it all together by putting the arms on the top edge of the base plate and top to screw it all together.

I mounted it to my wall in the shop if you wanted you could anchor it to the floor, but then i would partly drill half way through the base plate with the 1 1/2" bit then chisel it out so the rods can stand straight up..

If you want to see pictures let me know I can put some up.

you can also do this with pvc piping if you don;t have the bore drill bits, if you get the larger diameter pipe, put a long mounting screw through the centre, you could put 2 rods in one piece

true, it would be more costly than to use the 2x4, but if you don;t already have the tools at hand, then i think the costs would even out would they not?

just checked the home depot site, a 10ft section of 4inch pipe is around $16 plus screws

Sounds interesting please post pictures of your build.

Interesting build and simple to craft even with just a hand saw and drill. This is one build I will be duplicateing and organize my rods in the basement. Thanks Kit for sharing

Nice, although I think I would do one thing a bit different. On the bottom piece of 2x4, drill the same size holes about 1/2 way through to hold the rod ends from moving around.
